Always looking back, forever on the run.

He poked at life from the underside.
He couldn’t find the pulse, no matter how hard he tried.
He sugared down his teeth ‘cuz it felt so good.
He drifted in the shadow, wherever he could.

Little Johnny Soda had nowhere to go.
Always running hard, always going slow.
Took two steps forward and three steps back.
He kept on trying but nothing (much) to show.
